Can a photo be taken with a digital camera, with the lens of the camera on the lens of a Dob, I know it sounds silly, but can it be done?

You mean an afocal shot....yes, but you need a camera attachment like one of these.....Orion SteadyPix Deluxe, to attach your camera to the scope. It allows you to also use an eyepiece to project the image onto the camera's chip through its own lens. You can get good piccies that way

Thanks Carl, will look into that, just trying to think of a way (cheaply) to record photographically of what I have seen already in my 12" Dob and show people instead of telling them what I have seen.

That attachment will help you do that

I took the shot of the Moon, below, a few years back, just using a little Canon Powershot A460 attached to my scope. Didn't do too bad a job
