Heart of the Rose - Ha

Hi guys,

A work in progress post.

This is a tight, full res crop from 3.5 hours of Ha shot just before the New Year. I did a quick process on it since it'll be a while before I get the colour data.

I used my 645 reducer this time - F5.5, 825mm @ 2.21 arcsec / pixel. The full frame is a 2.4 degree FOV but I'll only be posting that when it's finished. Seeing was good enough not to have any effect at this image scale.

Full res crop:

Cheers, Marcus

Looking really nice Marcus. Great detail. The final product should be a corcker for sure.

The animals are a bit of a worry. Mike are you sure your not on steroids or have hemorrhoids or something.

Thanks guys - I'm excited about how it will turn out when finished!

However, being a boring, unimaginative, humourless amateur astronomer, I don't see any animals at all. .........

WOW.... I now know why the stars are so tight.
Should look great with some colour added. I wish the clouds would get up and go around here. Lovely days and crappy nights makes things very hard.

Who said you didn't have a sense of humour Actually, as soon as I showed my Tunnel of Fire image to my office at work the first comment (followed by rapturous laughter) was it should be called the "bloody hemorrhoids nebula"

Have to say I am really looking forward it Marcus, having never imaged the Rosette in colour before, and although a little tricky, I really found great pleasure in this one and knowing your skill and the field of view you have used I am sure you will produce a fabulous vista, bring it one mate

Mike

Thanks Mike - you're too kind. You're a tough act to follow though mate so I'll have to be on my toes to get close to the impact & appeal of your rendition! Fingers crossed for the weather!

Lovely start to this one Marcus.
There's some beautiful detail shown with those dark neb strands/ towers and little boks...
Also the delicate wisp to the centre is looking especially well detailed.

I look forward to the colour when it comes!

All the best
Rich

I like it. The cat (head butting my laptop) liked it.

It's a great image now and I'm sure the end result will be even better.
