12mm Nagler, Type 4

Hi folks,

I've given these real wide angle eyepieces a go, and I find they are not for me. This is a sensational eyepiece. The quality of the image is astounding. But the 82 degree FOV is too wide for me.

Eyepiece comes with its lens caps, 2" barrel screw and a bolt case. Has a few little marks on the barrel from normal use.

Asking $265 including postage in Australia.

Thanks for looking,

Mental.

Many people do not know how the "locking screw" on these TelVue eyepeices work:

This 12mm Nagler can be used in both 2" and 1.25" EPs. In the 2" mode, the locking screw is removed and the EP is used like any other 2" EP. In the 1.25" mode, the locking screw is wound out and the EP is inserted into the 1.25" focuser with the locking screw of the focuser made to slide into the slot in the EP. The EP's locking screw can be removed and the locking screw of the focuser is tightened, or if the focuser's locking screw is too big to fit in the slot, too difficult to access, or for added security, the EP's locking screw can be used instead.

Please see the picture below of the way that the EP's locking screw can be used.

Hi Jen,

TelVue continually further develops its individual eyepieces within its range. For instance, this 12mm Nagler Type 4 is the forth model of THIS 12mm Nagler, and it is also their current model for the 12mm. The present Nagler range has individual eyepieces that go from Type 4 to Type 6, which indicates the product development over time.

Older eyepieces can also be identified by their "Type" number.

I hope that helps,
