galaxies near the Horsehead nebula

Hi all, still cloudy here, with showers this morning. This image was taken last year with 160mm Astrograph. Had a close look over this image and found 3 galaxies. The first link is to a full size image =4MB.

This galaxy is above the Horsehead, the red spire can be seen at the bottom of this crop.

These 2 galaxies are to the right of the Horsehead, with only the bottom one listed in The Sky 6.

Hope the skies clear soon.

That's certainly interesting Lester... we seem to concentrate on the forest and miss the trees so to speak on this object.

Thanks for bringing these little Galaxies to our attention!
certainly something we can look for in future images.

Hope you had a good year with the crop... average out here this year.

Have a good xmas.

All the best
Rich

Good detective work there Lester, very interesting, for things so far away, those blighters can shine through just about anything.

Nice picture Lester, the galaxy at the right top middle is easy to see in a lot of pictures but the other two are harder to find

Thanks for your comments everyone, I appreciate them. I use to always look for the small galaxy within the Helix, now that is easy. I would be interested to know what the magnitude is of the 2 galaxies here that I could not identify.

Thanks Rich, had a good harvest here and earliest finish, before the rains came. Looking forward to clear skies now for a few months. Have a great Christmas.

All the best everyone.

Hi Lester

very nice image, I have never noticed these small galaxies, I'm always caught up in the horse and flame
