Canon 50D vs 450D

I have seena cheap second hand 50D, but I already have a 450D - anyone advised whether this would be a step up or a step to the side?
Only difference I can see is 15. vs 12.2 MP with smaller 4.7um pixel pitch.
Help!

I think I am right..?
the 40D, 50D 60D have more functions than the respective 450, 550 etc etc
ie they are more of an enthusiasts camera
whereas the 450 etc are basic dslr's ...dont get me wrong they are still good but dont have all features of their respective higher end models

eg the 7d does a bit over 8fps in speed shooting while the 60D does 5 ..i think...and so on...if you drop a digit the camera seems do be able to do more but so is the expense

Really depends on what you want to use it for!

I have had a 50D since I began photography etc start of last year. They are a solid camera..and when Solid I mean metal and big so they are heavy...put a lot of strain on your focuser if you are planning to use it for AP!!!

In terms of performance they are a bit of a beast, still 1.6 sensor so it is a bonus for using tele len's and shooting through refractors and the like! It produces nice images and hadles the high noise shooting quite well. I hope to upgrade to a 5d from here then keep my 50D (get it modded) for AP until I get my greasy mits on a CCD!

It just depends really on what you want to achieve. I know you will instantly see an improvement in the quality of shots and performance compared to the 450D!!

Hope this helps.
