Perfume Delight with a bronze treatment.

I'm not one for playing with the colour and saturation to the point that the subject is completely different from the original. However I gave this image the Topaz Detail treatment, and used Photo Filter in PS CS5 to turn Perfume Delight into Bronze Bloom. I love this flower... great shape and stem, and a scent that can make you dizzy on a hot day.

I am happy how the image looks, but still a part of me says "That's not real!"

The original is here as well. Shot with Modded Canon 450D, Helios- 44M-4 58mm lens @ f2, 1/64 sec, ISO 800. I have had that lens when I bought a Zennit Photosniper second hand 25 years ago (?). I think that this is the first time I've actually used it. I have to work out how I can get use of the aperture adjustment.

Thanks for looking.

I like the original, bronzed and b/w versions. The bronzed and b/w ones have a great 3D effect - I bet they'd look great in print.

Thanks Dave,

I don't generally like doing these sorts of alterations to these images, makes it a bit... manufactured. Having said that I am happy how this has turned out. The original is straight out of the camera with minor tweaking of the white balance before converting to tiff.

This is a great rose, long strong stems, great shape and a scent that is positively intoxicating.

Nice shot. I've been meaning to attempt to photograph my roses, never done any floral photography before, so have been looking at a lot of images to get ideas.

I think it is the extra detail shown by the darker colour that makes it feel faked. Soften it slightly and lighten up the entire image a bit and it may look more natural.

Thanks Peter, I will work on it if/when I get time. Thanks for the tips.

Even though I am not keen on the adjustment to unrecognisability, I liked the way the flower seems to launch out of the image, but I will soften it and see how it looks.

Cheers
