Lunar mosaic feast from 4th, 5th and 7th Nov 2011 – for those who like detail!
Hello,
From my imaging sessions of 4th, 5th and 7th November 2011, I have now put together a set of three mosaics. During those sessions, I was in “cruise and enjoy” mode so it wasn’t until I saw the finished individual panes that the potential of the mosaics dawned. Unfortunately, on one of the mosaics, I missed a teeny weensy slice where the overlap didn’t quite stretch enough!
I hope you enjoy these as much as I did; viewing the lunar surface under moments of excellent seeing is quite enthralling.
Lunar Mosaic 04 Nov 2011 Arzachel-Alphonsus-Ptolemaeus and Rupes Recta WARNING: 402kB
Lunar Mosaic 05 Nov 2011 Plato Apennine Mountains, Mare Imbrium WARNING: 332kB
Lunar Mosaic 07 Nov 2011 Tycho, Clavius, Moretus WARNING: 503kB
Cheers

Great stuff Dennis. I can't wait to get home to see these on a decent size monitor!
Cheers,

Amazing! The Tycho/Clavius/Moretus mosaic is my favourite... looks brilliant on a 30" monitor.

Simply spectacular vistas Dennis. They look great on a large monitor, and the resolution is just outstanding. Excellent work

Lovely work Dennis. I am gald to see this quality being produced. I really like hi res images of the moon. I have tried a few times to carry out a project such as this but have been foiled each time. My favourite would be the second image. I like the vista of the scene. The Apenninese is always really interesting to look at hi res. The last is very sharp, but I don't think as nice a view as the second image. I am putting a note in my diary for the next first quarter, your splendid images have reminded me of some imaging I need to undertake.

Thanks for all the nice comments and best wishes for your project Paul – I can’t wait to see the results when the imaging gods next bless you with some good seeing.
Cheers

Hey Mike
It’s a bit unusual to see you in these brighter, more defined parts of the Forum– I had you down as a multi-hour, multi-session faint and fuzzy kind of guy!
Cheers
Dennis
