ngc 2014, 2020 & others HarHagb

Hi all, was lucky enough to have a clear Saturday night to get down the colour for this object I previously posted in Ha/ Luminance.
Certainly not a straight forward area. There is quite a bit of faint HII along with the prominent objects.

Here's a link to my front page if you'd like to have a look.

Sky is now cloudy once again.
Hope you're doing better.

All the best
Rich

This image really has a wow factor. I love it. The colours are sensational, the framing impecable and very interesting and just a fantastic range of hues and objects. A magic image that has just come together so so well.

Congrats.

Greg.

Nice work Rich, its defiantely a hard area to attack as there are so many stars to contend with. The trick i think is subduing the stars and keeping the nebulosity with out making it look silly you have done a good job of it!

Notch up a nother for Newtonian power whooop whoop

Oh yeh! that's great Richard, nicely processed mate, you've made the emission nebulae stand out nicely ..maybe it's just me but it looks to have a tad green cast in areas though..?

Top shot

Mike

Very nicely done indeed Rich! It does seem very slightly too green though on my monitor.

Cheers

Stunning image, Richard. I was immediately struck by the beautiful star colours and smooth processing.

Nice work indeed.

This is now IOTW.

Cheers Brenden. Certainly very full of stars and areas like this can be over whelmed if over pushed. I tried to showing the extent of the fainter HII that dissipated...
Yes, gotta love a good, fast newt!

Hey Migel, thanks mate!
No your monitor is fine, this is the way it has come out. Actually David Malin and a few others have this colouration to this object. Well, perhaps a little more teal in colour. But, I knew this would get a few going http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/....es/happy04.gif especially you.....
As always I do my G2V weighted ratios and multiply the extinction factors in... I think this colouration is due to the class A hydrogen beta transmition line given off from this nebula. The star within is a type 'O'. I don't like to similate any others photos so go for what my G2V calibration is. That way there's no guess work.
There is really nothing on this object apart the little I've gleaned from a couple of old Harvard papers on the LMC.
I have no probs with other objects colour wise, be nice to have more info on the morphology and gas content of this 'puff of smoke'
Hope some one chimes in....

Thanks Steve..... as to the colourisation to ngc2020, see what I wrote to Mike above.. There's no info on this object in particular on the net... some say it's a SNR, others think it is just a PN.....

Thanks Louie for that! The green as explained above is as it came out... there is a very faint Ha line but prodominantly HBeta... could also have been the night with more extinction in the blue channel due to poor seeing, but I go with my colour weights and they usually hit the mark no worries....

Thanks all once again...
It was just night to get out and image for a change!

All the best
Rich

Nice work Rich, lovely colours and I like the Ha blend through. No cirrus showing though?

If the weather actually clears this week (yeah right) I am going to attempt this with the RC for its first image. That has been in the planning for months now, ever since I did the wide field of this same area.

Hey Paul, thanks for that.
No cirrus to speak of. But then again this area is soooo busy, I had to be careful of not over do the stars with a straight stretch... a selective stretch would have possibly produced something, but I already did multiple over lays and stretches, bringing the Ha and enhancements to differing areas..
Yeah, know what you mean about the weather... cloudy and still... then today the sky is clearish and the wind is unrelenting.. (typical for this time of the year hey)....
Look forward to see a more in your face version of this area from your RC!
