HH from hobart part 2

I reprocessed, just pushing the develop a little and increasing the saturation to get more of the red nebula. Not bad I think for an unmodified DSLR, a small refractor (80mm) and 60 min of subs, calibrated.
I also used the star mask and repair to get rid of the coma that was left after cropping.
Cheers

It looks great, especially from such modest gear.
It still looks quite noisy though, I'm not sure if you can reduce it and keep the detail though?

Hi Graham

I thought when I saw the title you meant "Her Highness" -

Good attempt! - I've not attempted the HH until last night and had good FOV with a 120mm OTA; unfortunately realised that subsequent subs started losing details and only discovered aro 3.30am that it was dew on my lens!!

Cheers
Bill

HH from Hobart!

Poita, I agree, I need far more subs to get rid of that grainy pushed data feel, the best shots I have seen on line are something like four hours +. I would have to do it in different sessions as I only get about 1.5x 2 hrs per night bewteen trees at the moment. Planning ahead I think is the key.
Am also trying to get all my gear mobile for some better skies when the clouds go. (when?)
Cheers

Hi Graham,

It's exciting following your progression - each image better than the next!
I did a little clean up of the image (though there's only so much mileage I can get from an 8-bit JPEG). Would be happy to look at your raw data and do you another write up on how to make the most of it. Different gear, different problems, different ways of overcoming them

Cheers,

Mate you're getting better each time and although you only have about 60 minutes, it's looking very good for unmodified.

Well done and keep at it.

I had a go at your image as well, I wanted to keep as much of the colour as you picked up, but I think Ivo did a much better job than I did.
I'll up it here anyway as an example of how different a look you can get messing around, and that is with just your single jpeg you uploaded here, with the raw data you could go nuts.
