'Gold Coast 600' -fast cars.

My son went down to the Gold Coast on Friday,he went to the practice session of the car race-$42 for the ticket,I think the price went up quite a bit for the Saturday and Sunday.

He was keen to use his new Canon 600D,he used the basic 17-55 kit lens to get these images.I think this kit lens is a mk2 version,I had one very similar with my old 350D.But this lens he has seems to be giving better results.

He had to play around a fair bit to get these cars,as the three V8 images shown-they were doing 240 Kph!,not sure how fast the formula one car was doing. My son saw the f 18's but was filming at the time,he got some footage and sent a screen grab, not sure if that will load into IIS.

The cars were VERY load, and the hornets could not be heard.Looks like a great event.

The pans shots are pretty good actually, it's a lot harder than it looks (I went last year). This event however, is very bad for the amateur photographer and I refuse to go again. Until the organisers give us amateurs a better chance of grabbing some shots without wire in them. Looks like the pan shots were taken on the back straight (the best place imho).

That's not a F1 car, but a FF1600 (formula ford). They still go very fast, but lack the bhp of a F1 car ;-) Looks like a Van Diemen chassis to my eyes. They're difficult cars to drive due to the lack of wings and downforce and they're very twitchy - you gotta be very precise with driving them by all accounts (I've done some sim racing on these cars, but no real racing in them - yet).
