G'day Markaus,

Its a great feeling capturing a piece of space, Jupiter can be so rewarding given the right conditions. What setup did you use to capture this also?

The only thing personally I would say is try playing around with contrast and brightness, I think making it a bit darker may reveal more detail that could be washed out in that image. Make sure you don't go over 2min captures due to rotation also.

Hope you dont mind, but I changed a few things just for a comparison. Keep up the good work

Dan

I wish my first attempt had been that good. I'm not experienced enough to offer advice, just to offer congratulations! Keep it up, Markaus. Good luck.

thanks....

Im not exactly sure what my settings were. i just used wxAstro and recorded for about 20 seconds. I did 4 main records on L-R-B-G and then a few extra to get 7 pictures to stack through Registax. I tried to stack but they would not align so i just went with the best picture.

Attached are the files if anyone wants to have a go....(PS i thought i recorded in colour but obviously not )

Hi Markaus.
Nice shots for first go, Just reading you said that you shot video for 20 seconds ? if that is the case then that if far to short you need to go for like 2 to 3 minutes on Jupiter (I am not an expert but thats what i have read time after time) and also with the 880/900 should be around 10fps its not a DMK or a Flea camera (also just what i have read) Hope this helps a little, I have just ordered my camera as well so maybe we can compare some shots when i get mine, oh 1 last ? what type of scope are you using.

cheers

Graeme

HI Markaus,
the images you posted are jpegs. If you can save them as BMP in registax there will be more data for me to manipulate. You cant really do much with jpegs in registax.
You want to capture about 1 minute worth of video.Jupiter rotates every 9 hours so if you capture for much more than 1 minute you will get some rotation between the first and last images. What telescope are you using? Is you camera color or black and white? Are you using color filters?

I have mono cameras and I use a filter wheel to capture a red, green and blue channel.I then process each capture to produce a red, gree and blue bmp. I combine the channels in winjupos or astraimage or photoshop.

I do have a color camera which is easier to work with, but you get less detail with that. When you are starting thoug, a color camera is less frustrating.
