Storm last night

Dear All
We had a "little" thunderstorm last night. A big stringybark tree that overhangs my shed about 20m from my house was hit by lightning. The circuit breakers were tripped in the house but fortunately nothing else seem to have been damage. This morning we found bits of shredded tree all over the yard. There is a branch up against the shed and the roof is covered in shredded wood. An amazing amount of force.
I think I will now have to get the tree cut down as it is dead and leans right over the shed. A job for someone with insurance rather than me trying to fell it I think.

Glad to hear it's only the tree that's really damaged.

Has all your astro gear survived intact?

I think so. The observatory still has it's roof on it but I didn't investigate any more this morning. It is only about 30m from the tree that was hit.
