USB ethernet adapters

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these. My ethernet onboard card in my desktop computer is acting up, and unfortunately I cannot put another one on my motherboard expansion slot as my video card is taking up too much room to attach one. I could just replace my motherboard, but that really is a bit over the top. I have been told that USB ethernet adapters are available, just wondering how they are for speed etc.

Thanks Warren. Just wanted to make sure that these would not strangle internet speed, which in my case is now reasonably ok.
