DSLR camera

Carl, I just logged on because I am planning to buy a DSLR and fancied a Pentax K r because I have a Pentax film camera and some good lenses. I was going to post a question, does any one have any comment on a pentax Kr which seems to have all the required attributes but all the literature seems to recommend Canon or Nikon and no mention of Pentax. What was your experience with the Pentax and why are you selling it? Anyone else got comment on the choice of DSLR. I have been told that Canon is recommended on the basis that most people (in the US) have Canon and their support and availability of accessories is superior. I have a Meade LX90 ACF, 200mm and a Lunt 60mm DS that Iwant to take photos through. Podger

I have Nikon and Canon gear, and just purchased the Pentax. Once I'm finished playing with it, I'd be happy to lend it to you, as well as give you my thoughts on the Pentax Vs Nikon vs Canon once I receive the Pentax, I'll do a shootout and drop you a line.

Hi Poita, I have read your posts in other threads mostly the Nikon vs Canon saga. So, since you have already both recommended and popular brands why have you prurchased Pentax. This is precisely my dilemma. Thanks for your kind offer to lend me the pentax but I couldn't possibly take that up. I am however vitally intersested in your reasons for the Pentax and your experience/results in using it.

The Pentax is purely to try out the gps astrotracing feature, no other reason. The K-r is not at all what I would use for normal photography, but the possibility of doing some wide field without using a mount has intrigued me enough to want to try it out. I will most likely be selling it again once I have put it through its paces.

You are more than welcome to try the pentax on your scopes. I lend equipment all the time and often drive past Windsor so could drop it off. I have a 60mm pst and a 10" Meade acf so have similar scopes.
