deeper CG4 and eta carina images

Hi all
Did 9x5 mins ISO 400 on Cometary Globule 4 last night, my deepest shot of it yet, with the hutech modded 350d and no filters. Also 2x10 mins with UHCS filter on Eta Carina.
Was a warm night but dark.
10 inch F5.6 scope and MPCC used, processed in Iris and PS CS

Like your CG4 pic I wanted to image it last night and couldn't find it in any of my books has it another name ( other than " The Hand of God" ) or maybe an NGC# for the galaxy.

Heres a wide and close area starmap generated from Star Atlas Pro, showing both the galaxy about to be "devoured" by CG4, and the rectangle showing the area my camera and scope covers, and closely approximates my actual image.

Heres a reprocessed eta carina, a bit more intense colours this time. Its very subjective when processing, as to what makes a nice looking image and what reflects true colour, I just process till it looks pretty

Yes I spent considerable time fiddling with the Eta carina images using gamma adjustment in Iris to help avoid burnin of the brighter parts of Eta Carina.

Absolutely well done on the image of CG4.

I dare say you are the first amateur astronomer to have ever photographed it. I like how your image shows the green colour of it, with some red nebula on its leading edges.

I remember years and years ago we tried to image it with my Cookbook CCD camera, but it eluded us on that particular night.

yes, paul I remember that now. As CG4 is faint but fairly large (1/3 of my frame, it was a tough task to find it with the cookbook, though I no doubt it would easily image it if we landed the chip on it esp. the front part near the galaxy.
I can only wonder what I could do from a dark site. I think if I had spare money Id get the smaller cousin to the EQ6, the EQ5 mount with dual motors and set up my cometracker 6 inch schmidt newt, for a portable setup, and maybe go down to Kulnurra or somewhere dark with someone, (or even Lostock next time), and re image CG4 under darker skies.
