My new hobby!!!

Just started this tonight!

This evening as a matter of fact!

Plane-watching with the dobby!

I am using a wide view with about 30x magnification and zooming into various planes as they fly by and track them across the sky, in evening of course, when the sun has set. It's fun to watch the planes come in.

I am about 80km from the airport at tulla. Most planes landing there are but tiny dots close to the horizon but there are other planes flying by. I was only outside a few minutes and bagged these!

Cessna - nice colours!
Old Cessna, (noisy old thing)
Cathay Pacific 737
Quantas 747 executing a long turn after take-off
4 piston engine plane - can ONLY have been a b17 bomber?! :ey epop:

That is all.

I imagine living that close you'd stumble on them all the time. You'd have the advantage of hearing them too.

We might need a new Obs Reports page

None in Australia.....wonder what it was? A RAAF Orion maybe?

There is a Lockheed Super Constellation in flying condition here.

Cheers

It's a lot of fun tracking planes in binos and scopes. Do it myself a fair bit as I live right under the flight paths for aircraft inbound from Tassie and NZ.

Maybe an Air Force Hercules also. They have 4 engines and are awesome to watch land and take off again.

I have been watching planes for years and also use a scanner to listen to them.
Call me a Nerd, but I enjoy it very much and have since I was young. ( a long time ago ).

Rgds.

geoffro.
