Heads Up SBS 2 Tuesday Sept 20 7:30pm Ancient Astronomers of Timbuktu.

Quote:
Guided by astrophysicist Dr Thebe Medupe, a group of scientists engages in the first exploration of the scientific contents of the great manuscript archives of Timbuktu. As the ancient papers are in grave danger of being destroyed by the ravages of time, the team races against the clock to unlock the mysteries of the incredible library before this valuable history is lost forever in the sands of the Sahara.

Looks interesting, some precursory details can be found here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timbuktu_Manuscripts

Be interesting to see what conclusions they come up with.

Very valuable pieces of history....I hope they can preserve them before they're lost.

Too much history has been lost already.
