Jupiter 14 Sept 2011 in rough seeing

Seeing was pretty terrible this morning. Perhaps just plain poor. To top it off I had trouble with my flea3. It would not connect, so I had to use the Lumenera to capture this data. So now i have to track down the problem. Anthony and I brainstormed this morning about the problem and I have a few suggestions that I am going to follow up.

I had to work this data so hard it is quite rough.

Excellent image! I can't imagine what you can do in good seeing.

Still a pretty good shot Paul, I just wish i could look at Jupiter with my scope just cloud cloud and more cloud.

Good effort Paul, when the seeing is soft there isn't much you can do about it, damn the Jetstream.

Yep it is just time to wait things out Barry. Low elevation does mean that the seeing has to be special. Besides I am still working on the Pavillion where the telescope is placed and there is plenty to do on that yet. I have good runs on the board from previous years, so it is not as though I don't have any great images of Jupiter. And; I do need to get the flea working again. Perhaps something to look at this week. No imaging tonight anyway, cloud and more cloud.

If I got an image of Jupiter like that I'd be stoked. You are running high standards there Paul.

How do you find the Flea 3 overall? (perhaps not a good time to ask)

Greg, the camera when working is pretty nice. It has good speed and low noise. Yeah I run pretty high standards on planetary imaging. It is sort of what I am meant to be an expert at these days.

The Flea is sorted now. I had to start the PGR program to reboot the settings. Not sure what happened there.

Paul, Which flavor of Flea3 did you buy? Are you planning to give it a try with Solar? I'd be really interested to see how that works out.

Eric I have the mono 640x480 version. I am not planning on doing any solar work with it, just because of the amount of work this would represent. Even modest sunspot groups at present would mean 4 or so panels. That said I might take a look when I have some sapre time.
