A feather in the sky

Dear all, I've eventually been able to process another image from data I took long ago, still during the somehow troubled startup period of my new OTA.

It is the part of Vela SNR including the feather shaped Pencil nebula and some other cirrus nebulae in the area.

Here is the main page:
http://www.glitteringlights.com/Imag..._TDh2Zbt-X3-LB

and here is the fully zoomify/full screen version:
http://astrosurf.com/lorenzi/ccd/Pencil_HaOIIIRGB.htm

This is a single frame with a total exposure of more than 13 hours. Unfortunately wasn't able to recover several more sub frames taken, in particular on the OIII, so the overall result is noisier than I planned. I will perhaps add more light as the Vela is back visible in the spring sky.

I hope you will like it.

Clear Skies
Marco

Beautiful result Marcus! Love the blending and the framing!
Hard to improve on for sure except to smooth it out a little more.
cheers Gary

Very very nice Marco. Extra exposure is always good but its already fabulous and can only get better.

Stunning result of such a strange object with its structure made obvious at this scale.

Thanks Gary, in reality I see a large room for improvements, if I have a chance I will add more Ha and OIII data next spring also to improve the visibility of details, it turned out a bit too "soft" to my taste..
