How to activate a program from a dead OS

I have loaded Wins 10 to rescue a laptop and it still has some data in it I want, specifically a large TPoint model I was using in Sky X and Tpoint. The file that describes the model seems to be hidden somewhere. I did find some older models but not the one that was there everytime I ran Sky X. So it must be saved somewhere in the Softwar Bisque program files.

The programs are there but wins 10 has set the old wins 7 to one side.

Is there a way to load the program (Sky X) and run it or does it need it registry with Wins 7 to work? If I can get Sky X to run from that hard disk it would be helpful. I am not sure its possible.

Greg.

You might be able to reinstall it by pointing the installation to the old directory on your Windows 7 install.

Caveat emptor!

Thanks Humi. I am not sure what you mean by pointing the installation to the old windows? Reinstall the program?

When you reinstall TheSkyX, it will ask you where you want to install it.

Navigate to the other drive's Program Files directory.

Worth a try. Hopefully it doesn't overwrite those TPoint files and they are accessible.

Smart thinking Humi. You can have the rest of the day off!

Haha!

As long as the installation process doesn't trash wherever the map is stored, or overwrite it, I think you might be OK.

I've done it with other software before.
