M17 Swan Nebula

After building up enough courage to brave my OBS again (found a funnel web inside), I took this image of the Swan in Narrowband)

HA 60 Sii 40 Oiii 40 Atik 314L at -15degC Heq6 f5 8 inch newt

I find this target hard to extract fine detail (and even harder to get the right colour balance in LRGB so the NB makes it a bit easier)

Comments welcomed

Nice image Paul. This is a really hard image to capture and present well. So big a range of just reds and faint blue make for a real balancing act. The structure in this is just another shade of red and poses a few problems to extract without sacrificing dimm and faint detail in the outer areas.
Well done with this image.

Thanks Doug. You are spot on re the dynamic range. I think NB is easier as the colour variations are not as subtle as lrgb.

Hi Paul,

A great photo.

The NB brings out such amazing detail. I think you're converting me.

Thanks.

Ross.

Great details Paul but some of your channels are white clipped. Just a processing issue due for a repro. Data is tops.
