IC4628 (Prawn Nebula) up close

Another quickie from Border Stargaze. 44x15 seconds subs with Sony NEX-5 in 22" Dob.

I was surprised to see the blue hues around brighter stars and that little reflection nebula at the bottom towards the left. It looked convincingly real but I have not seen it in other images of this object and would like to hear your thoughts.

Bigger version here:

Cheers,
Alex

A great shot Alex. 22 inches of aperture is going to show details smaller scopes would only show as a blur. It all seems real to me.

The reflection nebulosity is definitely real, I have just looked at a couple of images I've done at different FL (1500, 924) and it's there, but because of the shorter FL it's not so obvious.
A wonderful target to be sure...... The Area to the lower left of your image.... Just off frame is also a wonderful area to image, and because it has a bit more contrast produces quite some detail.

I enjoyed your image

22 inches sure is a lot of mirror. The detail speaks for itself. Well done.

Well done again Alex, you don't need a tracking platform with shots like that!

Very nice. You did pick up faint reflection nebs around some of the blue stars.
