Northern Territory

As a few of you know already, I recently spent 12 days up NT on bit of a holiday. We had a fabulous time and saw some beautiful sights.
We had 5 days in Darwin, then hired a car and drove to Kakadu, then onto Katherine and Litchfield Park, ending up a Darwin for another 2 days.
Some of my highlights would be Ubirr Rock at Kakadu - beautiful climb up (tho bit hairy in parts) past aboriginal rock art, then to witness a panoramic sunset!! Also the sunrise cruise at Yellow Water - gorg sunrise and a massive amount of birdlife!! Had a helicoptor ride over Katherine Gorge (actually about 13 gorges), then a cruise up through 2 of them. Stunning rock and water scenes. Onto Litchfield Park for soem pretty waterfalls, and finishing with another of my highlights, which was the magnetic termit mounds. These look amazing and reminded me of Carnac in NW France which has 3000 yr old burial aligned burial stones.
Nice to be home, away from the heat up there though.

Hi Liz,

Thanks for sharing the shots and you are giving us itchy feet.

That rock aren't at places like Ubirr really is fantastic, isn't it?
Really love those sunsets and that flying fox shot.

That's really a great collection Liz. Like flicking pages through a national geographic magazine. Very diverse and colorful.

There must be a lot of bats up there - it's standing room only.

Couldnt resist the standing pose, they can look so cute close up, so smelly and yucky otherwise though. We saw heaps at Katherine and Litchfield Park.

Ta Paddy .... the foal was part of a series of pics of the brumbies at Kakadu - all looked amazing set in the early morning fog.

Great shots ---love NT bigtime especially finke river(the worlds oldest river) gorge. Remember vividly the silence of Gosses Bluff other than the odd blowfly.
