Sonotube ...?

Anyone in NZ know a supplier for 300 mm Sonotube ? I know where the manufacturer is but having difficulty finding a distributor who can sell me about 2 meters. It is for a simple rebuild of my 10" to mount to the EQ6.

300 mm Plastic would do as well.

Otherwise I will build something akin to Rolfs Serrurier truss work of art but that will take a wee bit longer.

In NZ its sold under name Formatube and comes in 3m lengths. Price in Ch-ch was $73.20 plus GST for 3m of 296mm (internal measurement).The company is Sonoco NZ Ltd at 3 Hickory Ave in Henderson,Auck. Ph 839 0177.

I looked at both options also.Plastic is too heavy with too much flex.The cardboard is lighter and more ridged (and cheaper).

The distributer will cut to the size you need.But you will still pay for the 3m.

Hi Stephen, thanks for info. I know where the factory is, about 15 km from my home but they don't sell retail.
3 meter is ok, I am going to laminate some sections for strength with cut pieces and a left over could be handy for a pier cast one day.

Just need to find a local distributor. Bunnings and the like don't carry it that size. Firth have it but they are way out in the boondocks south of me.
I'll give the factory a ring, see if they can put me onto someone who can supply locally.

I'd need a bigger mortgage ....
I'll check Placemakers though, they tend to be a bit more trade focussed. Bunnings is very home handyman, lotsa cool things though.

When my redundancy loomed last year I thought to go work at Bunnings or an equivalent. It's a man's 'ToyShop' !!

Fortunately I got picked up by the company that contracted to do the job I was already doing .... so I am still here. Weird eh ?

The Sonotube is dead, I've started a Serrurier Truss build. Photographing as I go so will post it up when I have something to show.

Try Sonoco Aust P/L in Williamson Rd Ingleburn, they make Sonotube.
