Farewell to Mars.

Yes, it's my last one I'm posting.

2049 stacked hand picked frames out of 4000 total.

Toucam & 6" achromatic refractor/2X APO barlow & extension tube/IR/UV cut filter & fringe killer stacked.

Toucam settings: 5FPS 1/25th sec. 50% gain 40% gamma 20% brightness.

I learnt how to image with a toucam on this planet, at first it used to frustrate the hell out of me getting the colours right but then I decided to not give a stuff about the colours.....just IMAGE it!

Anyway, this is not a good image, but at 7 arc seconds it ain't bad either & I dedicate it to all the planetary imagers out there.

Until we meet again! Oh mighty god of war!

And a fitting Finale' too Asi John... you are without doubt, the King of Mars ! . You've got both polar caps and some albedo features here which is amazing for Mars at this size. I did a quick calculation and at 7 arc seconds the MartianDisk is now around 1/10th (yep one tenth) the area of what it was back in November! This is as good if not better, showing more detail, than shots of Mars I took last year when the planet was 14arc seconds - four x the size it is here and no doubt higher in the sky as well.

Roll on 2008!!!
