Jupiter Dec 5

A better attempt this time, but the effort was frustrated by high winds last night.
SPC900 on a 8SE, 2xBarlow, 2 mins video, Registax.
Comments and feedback welcome.
Thanks
Bo

Well done Bo you have some nice data there. I wish I could get that.

Some extra steps I have tried that seem to help. In Registax do an RGB align. I expanded the box around the planet and then hit estimate. This gets rid of the red (top) and blue (bottom) fringes.
Then open the histogram and select the blue channel, move the left slider up a little and hit stretch. This gets the sky background black.

Try it on your original you should get a better result.

Looking good. Now you probably need to aim for more frames if you can and then keep practicing with the processing. You will very quickly pass what I can help you with.

Thanks Michael,
There is a large tree that stilling smack bang in the middle of our backyard, and that limits my ability to track for extended periods. But as Jupiter rises earlier each night, I can move the mount to the other side of the tree.
Will keep trying.
Bo
