Pretty boring subject, I know, but on the train back to getting some processing skills working. Shot this over two nights, 1st and 3rd of August from home.
First night, I only got 4 LRGB in 5 min subs. Second I managed 9 x 7 mins of Lum and 5 x 7 min RGB. Calibrated, aligned and stacked in CCD stack, and processed in CS3.
Your star colours are really exciting. I see them from deep blood red right through to orange and blue.
I also like that the nebula itself isn't too pink.
Often, people process Lagoon as an almost 'Hot Pink' colour (I have been guilty of this).
But I like the colour you have used.
Also, the contrast looks just right to me, with the background sky not too clipped and dark, and the Bok Globules have that lovely solid black to them.
I've been processing on one monitor and then checking the differences on my lappy and mac. The difference between 3 monitors is unbeliveable. This was the one the looked most pleasing on all 3.
I found it very difficult to get the colors right. I looked at some of my old data shot with the 1000D and yes, they're pretty much pink all the way through.
The detail obtained with such limited exposure time and my ever increasing light pollution is what I'm most pleased with. Overall, I just want these clouds to go away, and the wind to drop and really get some decent data sets to work with.
Wow Darren, that's quite spectacular! Tack sharp, very nice colors. Add me to the people who like the way you processed this!
Edit: Your data seems really good too - I think you may be able to push it more if you would choose to (quick repro attached), but I like how you're just showing the core too.
Nice one Daz. Good to see your still out there taking advantage of what little clear nights we have had. Been a while for me. Between work and this crud weather I will have to go out to the shed and see if all my gear is still there.
Lovely subtle image.
When I worked in film, I used to calibrate all of my monitors and laptop once a month. It is amazing how far apart monitors can be, and it is a bit of a waste to work like crazy to get an image that won't look the same when others view it, I wonder how many people here calibrate their monitors?

I use a spider 3 to calibrate my monitors, but still see a difference depending on which one I use. I find the combination of looking at the same image on 3 separate systems to be helpful.

Thanks Ivo, I've had several attempts at stretching this image and finally decided I liked the subtle one the best. I'm very happy with the data I've got, but just working my way through some very rusty skills.

Cheers Daniel.
Yes Mate, has been a while since I've heard from you. I was expecting to be flooded with some of your timelapse work. It's been hopeless weather wise. I get very occassional clear patches, although recently It's been accompanied by strong winds. Can't win mate. Is it November yet?

Thanks David. Shot using a ED120 with the qHY9 through a pflat 2.

Thanks Marc, very pleased, although the desktop is littered with mistakes and not quite right images. It's nice just to be out and doing some astro stuff.
