Saturn Aug 12

Managed to find 6 minutes worth of clear sky in the West, just after sunset. This is an RRGB image with the new TIS618 camera at 30fps R and G, 15fps B - most of the frames were too distorted to stack and the extra QE of the camera helped keep the noise level down a bit. thanks for looking. regards Ray

That looks quite fantastic to me, considering all the factors involved against getting a decent image of Saturn this late. Well done mate!!

Trevor will love this one!

Thanks Tom.

Thanks John - got lucky - we had an overcast day and a hole cleared at dusk, so the environment was pretty stable thermally. Jetstream was still there of course, but not much of the usual local instability and the air temp only dropped about 8C, so I could get the scope close to ambient in a fairly short time.

What a super result you have there Ray, that is an exceptional image for this time.

I also had high hopes for last night as the jet had moved marginally Nth but the cloud just didn't clear for me.

This is a very important image Ray and I would highly recommend that you upload it to the PVOL data base.

Super Job
Regards
Trevor

Hi Graeme, thanks for your comment.

Hi Rob. Thank you.

Hi Trevor, was pretty pleased when it stacked OK. Didn't expect seeing to be usable, but it was worth trying as it turned out. Will upload to PVOL when I work out how.

Paul, thanks for the comments

G'day Darrin. thanks for that.

Regards Ray
