Project 6 - Portable Obs

Hi All,

I have moved and along with Uni studies didn't have much time to address setting up the gear. This project I started ages ago and finally got it to a working system.

I neatened the scope set-up to fit cables into a single loom that can be plugged in quickly. On this set-up I only have the figure out a wheeling method to move the tripod to my designated location.

The second half of the project was to house all the EQ mount controls and computer inside a movable abject. This started with purchasing an old lectern with an inbuilt monitor. I then connected all my equipment (Batteries, Inverter, Computer etc. etc.) inside and now all I require to do is wheel it out behind the tripod and plug all the leads in.

I installed Teamviewer on the computer and now can control the whole thing from inside the house. I have placed it out twice, the first time to set-up the location, the second time was to see if the equipment was stable after the previous setup.

In the past it used to take 30 minutes to 1 hour to get everything set-up now it only take a few minutes. This should when fully completed be able to allow me to do some imaging while studying.

Any comments welcome

I love it.
And you can give your election acceptance speeches from it too!

That is one of the mods I am considering although in my case not urgent.

The Lectern I picked up at auction for $50.00 plus fees.

Nice idea, i have a future plan of building a card table like pc with daul or tripple 17" lcd's. Times being the key issue and i just have to much on the go though seeing your work is a inspiration. You could so easily mod a pc into your mobile obs and should think about doing it, lol it looks like the top has a mounted LCD in it already and a keyboard under it. Nice work

Thanks Jay,

The lectern came with the monitor built in although after getting things set-up I don't use it much as I use team viewer mostly. I also plan to allow my Android to connect as well. I put in the keyboard and will look at putting a red light to illuminate the keyboard.

I plan to put 2 wheels on the back of it to wheel it in the van and use it at Dark Sky locations.
