Need help with Meade 10" LX200 ACF

I received the Meade 10" SCT, but it didn't come with a visual back.
I went to put my celestron visual back on it (from my old C8) but it doesn't fit.
The diameter of the threaded hole in the rear cell of the Meade is about 3.25"/82mm instead of the 2" one on the celestron.

What do I need to buy to be able to use my 1.25" eyepieces?

Is it a 3.25" to 2"SCT adaptor, or is it just a 'large' visual back, or is there a diagonal that comes with that thread?

I've spoken to Andrews and they were unable to help, Bintel tried to help also but the part they recommended doesn't seem right when I look at it.

I'm obviously asking them for the wrong thing, so if anyone can point me to what I need I would be most appreciative! I feel like such a doofus.

Thanks,
-Peter

The 10" meade should come with an adapter that reduces the 3.25" thread down to a standard schmidt cassegrain thread (same as C8). If it's new ask the shop to send one or if it's second hand ask the seller to scout around for the part.

Hi Peter
The part you are looking for should have been attached to the scope. Have you got an electric focuser? It may be attached to that.

If the scope is new it should have been attached.

If the scope is S/H it looks like you may not have got it from the supplier. Get back and ask for it.

I have attached a picture. Point out the part if there is any doubt.

Barry

Gday Peter
The std 10" Meade scope comes with a 3.25 to 2"sct adapter
on the rear port.
If that wasn't there when you purchased it,
ask the supplier what they did with it.
As alternatives, you can get the Peterson Eyeopener adapter
but that only works with the Meade microfocusser.
You can also buy an adapter from AstroPhysics that screws onto the 3.5" thread and provides a std 2" nosepiece interface.

Andrew

Thanks guys, I don't feel like quite so much of a dumbarse now for expecting it to be included.
I bought it from an IIS member, I'll contact them now, hopefully they just forgot to pack it.

yes peter i hope they had some protection over the rear cell opening so as dust etc.... didn't get in the back of the scope....when you get the rear cell cap that takes it down to 1 1/4" there's a meade emblem cap that screws to it to keep the dust out.....
hope this helps...

peter thats great, ring bintel tomorrow and ask for a peterson 2"opener for the rearcell they,ve them in stock, they may even sell the 1 1/4" standard one as well...depends on what you want to do with your scope setup as to the size opening you need...my new 14" is going to be in in a couple of weeks and i don't use the 1 1/4" standard so it's there if you need it.....

I want to compare the C8 with the M10. One of them will need to be sold.

So the 2" opener would work with both focusers? All my gear is currently 1.25 inch, but I guess I could get the 2" diagonal as well that has the 1.25" adapter built in.

As soon as I get this issue sorted I'll be side by siding them and seeing wether the extra weight etc. is worth the extra aperture.
The C8 I have has the wedge, forks, reducer etc.
