LP? What LP? ** show us yours **

People often ask me why I spam the forums with so many Ha shots. I often hear 'Nice, but when's the color coming?...' or 'Ho hum, yeah, yeah... another Ha shot..."

So I thought I'd try to do some colour last night (stupid me). 20x5min. Just to show you how nice my backyard skies are and try to make you feel better about yours.

Everything else went really well too. I managed to invert the DEC and RA cables. (haven't done that one in years but hey, don't underestimate me). Oh, and the cooling for the camera went off by the end of the session (bad cable connection). Noice...

So back into it tonight with a vengeance.

wow - didn't know you lived at the bottom of a pond! Nice that you caught the edge of the lily pad on the bottom right there!

Go the Ha!

I challenge you to a duel, good sir!

I'll have to post a similar shot taken from my place, then you'll know what light pollution is all about. Street lights to the north, footy field that has lights on til 11pm most nights to the south, block of units west with a stair light that glares all night long, and east is my place and the furthest I can back up I still need to wait for targets to flip meridian coz not enough east sky. And on top of that, a night overall puke-coloured glow from inner-city Brisbane. ... I mean

No amount of processing can make up for lost color data. But yeah to some extent you can run a gradient xterminator per channel.

I did two colour panels on the milkyway last night which are going to be very hard to process. Around 2:00am I turned to the two magellanic clouds that I could frame in one go. Did a couple of subs but then packed up. No point. Will do it in Ha next.
