Cheapest way to mount 6" f/8 refractor

Hi all.

I will hopefully soon have the funds available for a 6" refractor. However, the ota will eat most of my budget.
This will just be for visual observing so i am looking for my cheapest option to mount the scope.
I don't mind building something if this will be the best option.
Would really like to achieve this for aound $200. Am i dreaming?

Kris.

How about a Berry style alt/az mount? I hope to get around to building one for my little ED80 at some stage as it would be heaps better than the Manfrotto photo tripod I currently use.

Anj026 here has made a few:

Cheers,

You might google pipe mount, you can use 1.5 or 2" gal pipe, either attach to pier or tripod

it is certainly not the cheapest way but it is a DYI that was specifically designed for a 6" refractor and it would not be overly expensive with a little scrounging.

Hey thanks everyone for the ideas and links. That rotating observatory looks like abit of fun, just a bit more involved than i was thinking im affraid.

I thought about an AZ4 mount but if i get a 6" F/8 I may be pushing it, and the ice in space one has aluminium legs. Maybe if i got an F/5. istar has one that im interested in. Would probably suit the AZ4.
