OKay this is what I was looking at:

Model: PROED80-SKY
Apochromatic ED 80mm Refractor and HEQ5 Mount with SynScan.

Prices are correct as of 1/4/06

myastroshop - $2840
Telescopes-Astronomy - $3430
nvt.com.au - $2699

I find it amazing how there is a BIG difference between all the above sites. If anyone knows of anyone else selling them can you please post a price on here.

Myastroshop has the website advertised price and then there is the real price you only get if you call/email them.
Tell him you're from IIS and you'll get quoted a good price

Good point Geoff. That is true for most dealers, I would say. Most like to keep a few trump cards up their sleeves to help seal any potential deal.

Not only that, but those that are able to heavily discount cop a world of grief from suppliers after their competitors complain to them.

What I have learned is that if a dealer does well by you, by all means send others to them but dont mention prices in public.
