Dusty Triffid

SPX350 F4.53, ATK-16HR, Astrodon filters.

Ha RGB - 100m 40 40 120mins 5min subs.

Dissapointed with the noise, I would need 5 hours for the blue channel to reduce noise in the reflection nebula part. The Ha turned out detailed enough but really needed more colour but result is acceptable as other Sag nebula await my attention.

Thanks for looking, John.

I was just thinking the same. I love the Triffid, and I don't think I've ever seen the dust clouds in the centre of the "flower" resolved into cascading sheets like that before. Wonderful shots.

You got some great deep colours there and some terrific detail.
I wouldn'tm be disappointed about the noise as the reality is to get rid of noise on most astro imaging shots you need about 3-8 hours to get enough density to make a solid looking colour without noise in the dim areas.

Greg.

Thumbs up

Hi John,
It is absolutely great shot and lot of fine details in there. I don't understand why you said : "I would need 5 hours for the blue channel to reduce noise in the reflection nebula part" ! When I look your beautiful image, I don't see to much the noise and the blue colour is enough. Just the saturation to down and maybe the blue channel.
Thank you to share this image with us.
Regards
Franck

A beautiful image. Lovely saturation and some faint dust in the reflection nebula.

Thanks everyone, I was suprised by the dust I got and realise the blue needs way more time to get smooth and sharp.

Yes Trevor there are so many objects and you keep presenting new ones on the Forum all the time, skies way clearer than in UK.

Glad you like it Frank, I look at professional scope images and would like to emulate but don't put in the time needed.

Thanks again.

Yes John, this is a lovely Trifid, perhaps a little over sharpened but the detail this has brought out may be worth it, nice job

Excellent picture of a summer classic John, I really like it, in particular the color balance is spot on, IMHO
