If you had velcro tabs up the side of the cover you could always open the cover out and say its a new shade sale for the entertainment area.

How do you get up to the eye piece. I am thinking a mobile scaffold. Using a ladder would be not worth dying over. God damn that is a really big scope. Stand it upright and put tree branches out the top and say it is a tree. Hide if from the Mrs, only if she is totally blind.

Alas, poor Colin, I knew him well...
Found crushed under the mangled wreckage of a supposed 'telescope'. His dear wife remarked "I just got home and saw it for the first time. Next thing you know, a gust of wind came from no-where, and bang! The ladder toppled and Colin made a desprate grab for that 'thing' "...
