Easiest way to get 12V

Hi all

New scope arriving soon. It has a 12v cigarette style power plug. In the short term, what is the easiest and cheapest way to get 12v?
I have looked around and it seems around $50 will get you an AC to DC adapter. About $90 will get a lead-acid jump starter with 12v sockets on it.
Any suggestions?

I have both... depends on what you want to do? Home or away use?

Switch mode power supply (240 AC to 12V DC - clean and constant). Good for home use of course. JAYCAR have a great variety.

Deep cycle marine battery 70Ah... runs everying for several nights if I go out bush / camping. Plus I use it for my boat.

Sealed lead acid car starter, SuperCheap or something. Of little use these days...other than for it's intended purpose. Handy to have around for your car, but for astro it just doesn't have the capacity. An ideal battery for DOB setups where they just run a fan or small dew remover setup... but will not run a laptop or CCD appropriately. Pointless

Logie.

Looking for cheapest temporary measure until I get a decent sized portable lead acid! The budget is limited for a little while... blew it all on the scope!!

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...T&SUBCATID=381 I have one and works a treat. Pop in a splitter and run your dew straps as well (using a suitable controller that is)

That was one option I was looking at. If it works for you, I guess I will pop down to Fyshwick and get one! Thanks!

I've used one for years on plenty of mounts, Losmandy (digital drive and Gemini), EQ6, AP, LX200. Never had a prob.
