I'm worried Greg is using up all the photons in SE Australia, so I've been forced to delve back into my archives for another pic.
This is another Wiruna 2010 pic I've only just got around to having a decent look at. Its a pretty field and again I'm very pleased what the skies from May last year allowed.

LRGB 15:9:9:9 (all unbinned, 5min L and 3min RGB subs)
(Cropped down to about 60% of my normal 1 degree wide field)

In case you're wondering why the unusual (and short) sub times, this dates back to my first fledgling colour shots with the QHY9 and I was taking it slow but steady to get a feel for things. I also didn't manage to centre it very well, but perhaps we could pretend I was doing something creative with the rule of thirds...

That's a nice find in the archives, lovely spikes (I'm biased now ).

I like the way your skies have a very slight blue bias, looks natural.

Rob, that's a great target and a nice shot. I don't mind that it looks a bit small - it just highlights all the other stuff that's out there.

thanks Mike - I love to see some blue tinges come out in galaxy shots, so I've pushed the blue saturation a little here, but hopefully not overdone it. Something I don't really get the luxury of doing from my local surburban skies through LPS filter alas. Has been fairly brutally noise suppressed with masking in the RGB of course...

Glad you liked it Chris - my 8" Skywatcher Newt is the only scope I have, and very happy with her...

Great image and only a small amount of time to it. I saw you have signed up for astrofest. Adam and I are working on our wives and our school principal to see if we can maximise our time. Lovely image.

Thanks Greg. Maybe a bit purple in the end but its nice to be getting a little detail in the spirals come out. Loved your close in version too BTW.

I love the images I can get out Pixinsight Peter but its a lot more time consuming to get the cal'd images ready to go and aligned. Part of the reason (along with lack of flats) it taken so long. Still, was a pleasant surprise in the end.

Yep, exactly Doug - I couldn't get the energy to set up last weekend with the moon coming up to full.
