IC 4406 (Retina Nebula)

Here's a shot of IC 4406 which is often known as the Retina Nebula. Because this is a fairly small object I decided the best way to show it was as a crop of the full resolution frame.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Greg. I thought I might have over cooked it a bit in an attempt to bring out as much detail as possible but it seemed to work out okay.

Lovely image Steve. Some faint detail showing on the inner part of the PN. Colour looks as I have seen it in hubble and other well known images. Really nice.

This is a little beauty Steve!
I know how little it really is so I can imagine that it would have been swimming on your large chip.
The crop is perfect!

Good res and colours...
These are great little objects... plenty around at the mo.

All the best
Rich

Thanks Mike. Yes I did do it with the STL11K. Now that I have a look at that image again I think it might actually be a bit better. Here it is anyway:

Maybe I should go back to the 11K

Thought so (I have a good memory for images ). Not much difference visible to me..? Slightly different processing maybe..?

The seeing conditions weren't great when I did the red exposures, hence the slight bloating of the reddish stars. I've just had another play with it in an attempt to squeeze as much detail out as possible. Hopefully I haven't gone too far.

Cheers

Great image of this peculiar object, have this on my list with the Mintron. It does have a strange elongated shape and you've picked up good colours too.

John.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for showing something different.

An unusual photo with nice detail and colours.
