V8 fire ball

Just watching the start of the V8 super car race, two cars did not even get to do one lap, with one stalling and another running right in behind it,creating a huge fire ball-It took along time for the driver in the first car to get out-but thankfully he eventually got out, unharmed.

The fuel tank must have been full as it was the start of race, sure looked deadly, but thankfully not.

Saw it on the news tonight. Total fireball. Those Nomex suits they wear are good for 10 mins in a blaze but they still get scorched around the edges.
Scary !!

The fire saftey apparell annoys most drivers everytime they have to put it on ... but when its needed doesnt it do a fantastic job ... the sole reason the newsreels arent reporting a very different outcome.

There was nearly the exact same incident in the first race when Moffat stalled on the grid.

On these narrow Australian racetracks which look like they are as wide as a laneway they really need spotters like they use in NASCAR to warn the drivers through their radio headset.

Must be some amazing technology in this fire safety apparell, good to see these type of mishaps have a lower rate of fatalities, thanks to technology. This was sure a large fireball, while it look spectacular-it was not an easy feeling waiting for this guy to get out!.Although my son tells me there is a fair amount of seat belts, part of the webbing/roll bar protection to remove before hopping out.
