Observing Conditions for Friday Night

Well there is no big surprise that Perth will have clear skies tonight, however Alice springs will also be clear.

Brisbane and Sydney are also looking good tonight with clear or partly cloudy skies. However with both Sydney and Brisbane there is a chance that the predicted clear skies may actually turn overcast. Keep your fingers crossed for those clear skies.

Observing Conditions for Sunday night 20th February 2011

Well it looks like Hobart will be the best city for viewing tonight.

Adelaide and Brisbane are expected to also have good weather but these cities have a chance of the forecast ending up cloudy or even overcast.

Other cities are expected to have cloud however some of them have a chance of skies actually becoming clear.

See the map below.

Im sure im not the only one who's noticed that what might seem to be looking like it would make an ideal viewing night usually coincides with full moon over the last couple of years...feels like ages since i've been able to go out under a dark sky regularly. Here's hoping for a clear run this winter...go away La Nina!!

Hi Roy,

Just had a look at your link, didn't realize the only places to observe in Australia were Alice Springs or on the coast, reckon I better whistle up a truck, load my observatory on and head East.

Cheers
Trevor
