Focusing 400D DSLR

Hi,

I use to have this great program "Focus Assist" amd "Magnifier" to focus but since the new WINDOWS 7 UPGRADE IT WON'T TALK TO THE PROGRAM. My mate uses live view on his Canon 1000d but I'm stuffed if I can find that option. The skies are beautiful and the focus I have looks a little soft. Any suggestions that can be done tonight.

right click and run it as Win XP Sp2 or 3
