Sharpstar /Astrotech AL106 f6.5 APO

Just seeing if there's any interest out there.
As new. Barely 4 months old. Still under warranty.
This is the Japanese version of the Astrotech 106 APO that's had everybody all bright and bouncey over the last couple of years.
It IS a marvelous scope, giving nice crisp views with no false colour and it handles high mags like an NP101.
The 2 speed focuser is superb. Very smooth. It has the "brass screw upgrade" so it won't rotate too freely.
Totally hassle-free. I really love it.

However, although at 6kg its pretty light for a triplet, I need something smaller still (80-90mm) as a "backpack" scope that I can trot around the farm with.

$1300 inc post & insurance
Negotiable, but a new one will run you at least $1600 all-in (if you can find one).
Included as standard:
OTA
Finderscope bracket and rings
Tube rings w/ Vixen style dovetail
Hard carry case

Asking price also includes: a TMB II 9mm Superplanetary ($60 from Sylvain) which might as well have been made for this 'scope, a Vixen Red Dot Finder ($100ish from OPT) and a Bintel 2" Diagonal.

Many thanks to those who offered some very nice scopes indeed as PX, however an arrangement for a LOMO 80 is already in place, so I'd prefer to sell for cash as thats what the owner wants.
Agan, thanks and sorry to disappoint anyone.

Nice!

Have been about to order a Megrez 90B now with a dandy digital focuser - $1200 from Andrews when this scope shows up on the listing.

Sure it is a fair bit bigger, but should still be portable.

Am sending a p.m. - would welcome any other information.

AFAIK, the same objective is used in a number of brands including this one: http://translate.googleusercontent.c...jRMQ#post41558

The Astro Tech version also has a very good reputation on cloudy nights.
