G11 G2 guiding attempts.

Like Darren i had lots of guiding problems and my QHY5 died, so i had to get a guider quick.

With the guider cable just about every image was a total loss.
After a while the guide star just moved away.
Then i took the cable off and did the guiding thru ascom, mucho better
For this test i just plonked the mount on three tiles and leveled.
Still have to drift align
So the stars in the corners are not good at all (remember this was just a test to get everything working).

All the pics are 10Min Luminance and 100 to 200 Sec RGB and about 8 exposures each except for Omega Centaury wich has shorter exposures.

The guiding works good when not using the internal guiding of the guide camera.
When using the internal guiding with the cable it all goes south

There are more issues like loosing rsr232 connection on port one and no connection thru the web interface with thesky6 and another few niggly annoyances like having to cold start via the hand controller or the mount thinks it is in the northern hemisphere

But all in all, even with bad polar alignment it works good.
Now it is just waiting for a firmware update.

Wow i think i might hold off swapping my G11 G1 with my new HGMtitan with g2 in the observatory, at least the g1 is working with the autoguider until that update comes out

I rekon they're great Marty, considering the trying conditions.
It's just fun being out under the stars!

Coming along nicely Marty. Glad to see your inovative approach to the incomplete Gemini software. Shame you couldn't get gear that just works out of the box. It should happen but seems to be the way astro gear comes these days.
You are doing well Mate. Keep at it.

Thanks mate

It must be the same as the Gemini 1 when it just came out
I knew the guiding would be a problem and solved that by not using the guider cable and switch off pulse guiding and precision pulse guiding in the ascom.net driver.

Now i am waitng again for stars so i can do a proper drift alignment
