Sirius Anomaly

Anyone got an idea of what the weird blue thing is in this image. I was just testing my camera on sirius and this happened. No I did not photoshop it in! Looks amazing in hi-res! I have cropped slightly.

Looks like a schmidt reflection or internal reflection in your camera lens.

Forgot to mention that it was shot on a Canon 40d prime focus with 10" Meade Schmidt Newt. There is no camera lens. Subsequent images showed no anomaly. Can't have been something on telescope lens as it has a sharp edge....IE: that would be out of focus.

Ok, then that's what it is. A Schmidt reflection/ghost. You can google it up too. It happens to most SCT too on bright objects. Some info here too.

Thanks very much multiweb. Valuable info. Pity it wasn't a more exciting anomaly....
