What is this??

Hi all,
A dude(!) has just purchased something from me on ebay.
His name in the ebay invoice has the above font character in it (see above)
I can't seem to save it in the body of this text!
Any idea what it is anyone??
It's the same on Mac and PC.

Doug

According to http://www.fileformat.info/info/unic...0007/index.htm it might be a unicode "BELL" character.

Yeah leon, the square.

Andrew - thanks, I've still no idea what it is and why it's in the middle of the guy's name though!

Duncan - might be a foreign character transcribed wierdly. Person does have a middle eastern name - but it's between 2 names where a hyphen might be. Instead there's this square!

Doug

Doug,

Andrew is correct.
Its Unicode 0x0007
http://www.unicodemap.org/range/1/Basic_Latin/

The box with "0007" shows the Unicode mapping which is what is being displayed rather than the actual character - which in this case apears to be a non printing character - bell
Maybe it goes "ding" on some systems ?

Non communicative, 0% feedback so and so isn't being a co-operative ebay member! So I can''t ask the "dude"
He purchased an item and has now gone into silent running mode!
Along with his daft little Unicode "Bell" - Ding!!!!!

I'd be inclined to give this guy a 'one chance'.
One chance to reply to explain, pay for and receive his goods from you. No answer ... then report him to eBay.

Sounds just a trifle dodgy to me ....

Isn't it a shame we have to be so suspicious ?

Hi Brent - this is an old thread (April '10), buyer never contacted or paid. With cases like this I send reminder messages, then a final one with a time to respond by or the deal's off type thing. Nothing worked, so had to go through the ebay complaints process.
Never did find out why that strange little character was in his username either!
All the best - seller beware!!!
Doug

Hey Doug, I know it's an old thread but, those silly box things pop up from time to time.

In our SV Camp website scroll right to the bottom of the page to the copyright and what do you see?
http://astronomycamps.bravehost.com/past.html

Now look at the same spot on this page of the same website
http://astronomycamps.bravehost.com/upcoming.html

Weird
They are both supposed to be a circled 'C', the international copyright symbol.
