My vote for Image of the Year

We have seen a few shots of this region in recent years but this version has gotta take the cake, it is the best I have seen and is truly breathtaking. The depth is amazing but it is the realistic balance in the image that I like

Here is Fabian Neyers page for this image on a beautifully composed web site, it has some nice crops and a B&W version of the data too.

Amazingly deep. It almost doesn't seem real.

Beautiful image, but I reckon Bird's Jupiter on 30 August is the image of the year.

That's my problem with it. It looks too artistic, too fabricated.

Nice pic though, but not my cup of tea.

What a tortured landscape he has revealed. An extraordinarily deep shot.

That's one awesome image, it almost has a 3D feel about it.

Very impressive.

A champagne swilling art critic I am not.

Maybe one day when I can produce images like that I may gain an appreciation for them.

IMO this image is showing the rewards for just over 60 hours of exposure = truly a magnificent project.

Thanks for the link Mike.

60+ hours! Are these guys Aspergers or what? What is the longest amateur exposure time ever achieved? Is there an upper limit for this kind of thing? "Image of the Year? Hell, this image TOOK a year!"
