Meteorite hit early Tuesday

Anyone see the meteorite trail early Tuesday morning, 1:45 am spied from southern vic looking north from Winchelsea way.

I unfortunately missed it as I arrived home from work I had stood out looking at the sky for a few minutes as was reasonably clear but had gone in just before it arrived as a work mate who gets home a bit later than I do said he had been closeing has gate said looking north it had a south to north track leaving a fiery trail and appeard to go all the way down to the deck.

Realy annoyed I missed it and very hard to tell how far away it was without some triangulation on it.
So who else was staring at the sky at 1:45 am Tuesday morning and happened to be looking north at the time?

Ken.

It appears we have a few large objects falling from the skies in our regoin of the world.

Here is an excerpt from the Geelong Advertiser.
Not the same object as it was the wrong time of day or night as the case may be.

It wasn't a bird a plane or a UFO, but authorities say a meteor spotted last night in NZ skies could have been the size of a desk.

Reports of the bright flashing light were received from Auckland and as far south as Wellington about 11pm local time, while some Kiwis reported hearing a sonic boom, AAP reports.
Eyewitness reports received by NZ's weatherwatch website have described a very bright blue light which lit up the sky like daylight.
Police say they received about a dozen calls from people concerned the light was an emergency flare.

Missed it myself although I had been out observing earlier, dang !! Passed over the coast about Raglan way I think with a lot of noise and bright white light. Raglan is about 100 kms south of Auckland.
