Help with "Iris" gradient removal & PixInsight

Hi all,

I have been trying to do gradient removal on my images without much luck. Scott uses Iris and gets good results for removing gradient in images. I have tried downloading Iris twice, and still get the same result. I can process images, but cannot do a gradient removal.

I load a image into Iris.
click on processing
click on "remove gradient (polynomial fit)
get message in box= Cannot save File
Nothing happens to the image.

With my frustration I have also tried PixInsight, got a username and password, downloaded the program, but cannot open it.

So very likely it is Me and my lack of computer skills.

Thanks for your help.

I'm in the same boat as you Lester. I can't get IRIS to save my files either. Hoping someone can come to our rescue.

You have to set a path for your files in the Settings section, first.

For gradients, run "setsubsky 5", and then "subsky" in the command line window.

Hi Humayun, I must be thick as a brick (it is 4 a.m.) but that is no excuse for me. I can process using other settings within Iris and save. I don't understand why I would have to set a path, or know how to set a path. Also cannot find set subsky 5.

Thanks.

I've got this problem and I've just found out a solution for it with Windows 7.

I'm constantly getting "cannot save file", firstly I thought that running in compatibility mode might help - but decided to "run as administrator" first.

This solves the problem completely.

Cheers
