Stunning Aurora Borealis Video - Norway

Found this this morning on Universe Today - I get them on twitter.

Anyway, brilliant video showing one of the wonders of the Solar System and the power of the sun. I find auroras simply beautiful.

Enjoy

It's from the Gladiator sountrack - Now We Are Free. One of my all time favourite songs.

That. Was. Incredible.

Got chills down spine while watching that, haha.

It's my life's mission to be able to move to a country where aurorae are visible such as in this video. Norway, meow?

Thanks for posting.

H

P.S. Looks like 5D Mark II to me.

Hi H,

I guess a couple of downsides might be that auroral activity would make an
interest in deep sky object astrophotography a little more challenging and
then there's that midnight sun to contend with above the Arctic circle during
the summer.

Mind you, we have customers in those parts of the world that seem to
take it all in their stride and they do get some observing and photography in,
but even they email and complain about how cold it gets.

Best Regards

Gary

Hi Evan,

thanks for that. Hey, even as I was hearing it, I thought it was something I'd heard before in some film. Thanks for clearing up the mystery

Does anyone know if the reflections on the mountain covered in snow at the 23 sec mark are from the Aurora itself??????

Cheers

I think they are vehicle headlights from a nearby roadway.
Same at 1:25

I've been trying to figure out what is glowing blue on the tree branch at 1:35
I think it is moonlight refracting through an icicle?
Looks awesome.

Thank you MrB....
Could the blue light be a stray mobile phone, laptop light, backup power led or a methane explosion?
