Upper Level wind charts

Hey guys, got this off the BOM site, gives winds from surface up to very high. Might help in working out jetstreams etc for seeing.

Not being a meteorologist, not too sure. I know that the higher the hpa number the lower level is the wind chart. ie the 250hpa chart is for very high level winds. If you hold your mouse over the chart you will see in bold lines the msl chart, and in dotted lines supeimposed is the wind chart for the appropriate level eg 250hpa chart and also the temps for that height. If you remove the mouse from over the chart, the high levels become a solid line and the msl becomes dotted. As you can see on the chart shown the winds are generally from the West and temps in the region of ms55 deg C. I am not sure how to find the wind speeds at those levels, but will look into it. It is all pretty techo stuff this Met, I only hold a certificate as a Met observer unfortunately.

Great site but by the time I have worked out what it means I would have had the scope out and tried it

Still it would be good to compare the seeing with the conditions.
